LA, Second Day

We didn't have time to do much of anything art related today -- we were due at Terry's father's new apt. at 1 or 2pm, so we headed to a place for lunch called the Green Street Restaurant in Pasadena, which had delicious food, then headed over to Hal and Madeleine's.

They are both about to turn 90, and this year they had to give up driving, give up their car, sell their private apartment, and move into a combination assisted living/independent living place.

Although their new place is about half the size of their old place, it's really an improvement! Their previous apartment was on the bottom floor of a complex in Westwood, was surrounded by tall buildings, did not receive much sunlight and did not have any views. Their new apartment is one floor below the penthouse of an 18-story building, with fabulous 180 degree views looking northwest, west, and southwest towards the faraway ocean, the hills and forests, and you can even see downtown LA from their balcony.

We had a nice visit with them, and made plans for dinner the next night and again Thursday, the last night before catching the train back home.

These are a couple of pics from their balcony.

After our visit (Hal and Madeleine had plans for cocktails with friends that evening), we checked out a seafood place near our hotel on Colorado St., Cameron's Seafood Market, which turned out to have quite tasty food. We had shrimp cocktail with 6 huge delicious shrimp, and kabobs of shrimp and scallops with bacon. Yum.
